Re: [Killietalk] Decapping BS??

The best thing to strain off decapped bs cysts is a men's handkerchief. I prefer white, and I'm not being sexist. Men's hankies are bigger.

You can store the decapped bsc in saturated salt solution in the fridge. My own experience is that the hatch is not quite as good from such stored cysts as from freshly decapped. I used to decap always, but using the bs cysts sold by Jehmco under the AKA label I get such good hatches without it, and such good separation, that I no longer do it.

So far, not so good. I tried to use my blackworm
keeper to rinse the eggs and 80% ended up going
straight down the drain. Whoops.

Can I store fresh decaps for any period of time? I
was thinking in the fridge with full strength
saltwater? It's a hassle, so I'm not sure it's
worthwhile to decap one batch at a time.

Thanks,
