I had no trouble (pre 9/11), Joel and mydriver's license sufficed. I passed
without delay both in Detroit and in Seattle. Perhaps it was the crewcut! No,
wait! I have worn a crewcut about 50 years so it must be something else. Just
kidding. I am certain the customs folks are much more wary now and may have
been on extra alert at the time you attempted to pass through their area. OK. now
I will dig out my birth certificate the next trip to Canada. Thanks for the
helpful hint.
