Re: [Killietalk] Traveling to Canada and back
Brian
I am a member of the Montreal Aquarium society and regularly cross the
border into Canada and return home each night after the meeting.... many
times bringing fish back with me.
I have been told, all i need is a drivers license to cross the border,
as i am an American Citizen, if you are of other nationality
citizenship, you might need your passport...
When i cross into Canada, im asked where my destination is... Tell the
truth.... i always say im going to Montreal for the day for the MAS
meetings.... When i return back to the border, i tell them where i have
been and if i have bought anything.... I have been told we are allowed
up to $200 worth of merchandise without having to pay duty on it.... If
you buy alcohol or tobacco products Make sure you tell them..... I have
never had a problem bring fish back either, always telling them i
stopped a pet store and bought some fish for my aquariums at home. NOT
FOR RESALE.... this way i am viewed as hobbyest not a wholesaler....
Hope this helps as i am about to make my first trip to Montreal in 8
days!!! Fish club meeting time!!!
Have fun!!
