[Killietalk] Poly Filter

Anyone have experience with this product? It is supposed to remove harmful
chemicals from water. I have successfully used it in fry boxes, and fry
growout tanks.
I do not know if it did good, but seemed to do no harm.
I bagged some fish for the CKA convention on Thursday. Some of the fish
were held in bare tanks to purge them but others were purged "in place" by
not feeding my growout tanks for two days prior to bagging. For those I was
concerned that they may have found something to eat and they would be in
bags for 5 days thru the convention. I read somewhere "Poly Filter" was
good for inclusion in bags to remove nitrates and ammonia. I put a tiny
piece (maybe a quarter cc) of poly filter in those bags where the fish were
not held in bare tanks. Lost all 4 pr of Diapterons, two trios of young
elberti(save one male), some Epiplatys ansorgii and some fallax by Saturday
Most Friday night. All fish I lost had this Poly Filter in the bags. I
lost no fish without Poly Filter and managed to bring home two fish which
were alive and I had the poly filter removed when I became suspicious. The
only fish that had the stuff still in the bags were two prs of fallax.
Since that time the fallax in one of the bags have perished. I don't know
who got the other bag of fallax, but if you had a problem with them please
contact me for replacements.

I have only the above data. Seems to point to the
Poly Filter as a problem when confined in a fishbag. This may be a single
data point but is enough for me to never use it for that again. Any others
have experience with it???
