[Killietalk] Killie water

In recent messages some folks have mentioned that they use condensate from their air conditioners for fish water. I have central air and last week I went to the basement to feed the killies and noticed water in my fishroom. Sooo.. before my wife could see it and demand I get rid of my hobby, I traced the source across the floor to my central air unit. I suspected the sump pump that pumps the condensate up to my sewer pipe. I called in my service man. He took the pump apart to find it heavily clogged with the ugliest tan colored slime I've ever seen. Packed full!... Almost threw up! Cleaned pump. Problem solved.
My point is that using AC condensate may be hazardous to our fish. I don't know what the slime was, but, I'll not use the condensate in my tanks. However, it may be ok in yours???? My CA unit is only three years old.
Just a word of caution.
