Sorry this comment is kind of late.
I have been using the bare bones Kent model and running the RO output through a
Aq Pham Tap Water Purifier. The output on this is really 0-1 ppm as
measured with a conductivity meeter. I have never seen any full unit do better
then about 25 to 30 ppm. The TWP Cart does cost $16 but in such a situation,
with the input being the output of the Kent unit, it is good for about 200
gallons with my setup. True 0 ppm water is not necessary for fish but I find
many uses for it elsewhere and knowing that the water is 0 ppm makes adding tap
water back to get to say 50 ppm a easy task.
