Worms found with Mosquito Larvae?

   I have another question for the group.
   Yesterday for the first time in a couple of years I was able to harvest a
serving of Mosquito Larvae.  I have a large 10 plus gallon bucket, found
years ago in a dumpster, so have no idea what was in it previous.
   I also found about a half dozen small, largest is 3/16" long, orange
colored worms.  The question is where did the worms come from and what could
they be?  I live in a second floor apartment and bucket sits out on the
patio.  I have never used this bucket in any way for my fish, or food.  It's
sole purpose for existance is to be filled with water each summer and hope
for the larvae.  I live in Phoenix, Arizona and most summers I get nothing.
Last summer it didn't even turn green, just dried up.
