Re: Cloning Killifish

Yep,

It happens naturally with *Riv. marmoratus*, which is usually a self-fertilizing female/hermaphrodite killifish. Her eggs are self-fertile, but true males are produced under some environmental conditions, I am told. IDK what causes males, and it would be fun to know. The females are pretty plain and even a bit ugly.

The other night during feeding time I observed a number of specks (12-20)
surrounding my mateless female, then slowly sink to the bottom. I was able
to snag one with an eye dropper and it proved to be an unfertilzed egg. Now
a couple of days later my curiousity has me wondering, has anyone tried to
clone a killifish, as supposedly can be done with frog eggs?
It is not that I really want to try it, but just curious.
