Hi Fellow Killinuts!
Hers is a new idea and topic to discuss, as the BOT is probably going
To implement it after the exact rules are ironed out. I solicit your input
before we make this new idea into an operational reality.
One of the problems we face is how to generate additional income for the
George Meier Fund and at the same time generate interest in the AKA membership
in supporting the fund? In considering fund raising things that have worked
well for the AKA in other instances, the raffle of N&RS at the annual
conventions came to mind.
So, a new program we are going to try is a monthly (or bi-monthly) raffle of
rare or even not so rare fish. Tickets (or chances) will be sold through the
BNL with all proceeds being donated to the GM fund. The killies will be donated
by various members (I already have three AKA?ers who have volunteered to
donate fish for this worthy project. I am sure others will graciously step
forward and offer fish for this purpose).
Since the idea was mine, I have volunteered to co-ordinate the effort. The
proposed rules for the raffle are as follows:
?????????????????????????????????..
1. The raffle will be advertised in the BNL with the species listed that will
be supplied. If the fish offered expires before the drawing is held, a
substitute species will be offered to the winner. (Although I don?t expect this
to happen).
2. Tickets will be $5.00 each, whether the raffle is for one pair or two pairs
of the same species. Clubs are eligible to purchase tickets. You can purchase
as many chances for any raffle as you want to. If we have more than one species
donated for any month, we will have multiple raffles for that month.
3. The winner or winners will be listed in the BNL and the amount of money
collected by that raffle will be listed also.
4. Most of the time the fish will be shipped directly from the breeder to the
winner, with the AKA paying for the shipping costs so all raffle money will go
into the GM fund.
5. The winners will be drawn randomly in a blind drawing.
???????????????????????????????????..
Here is a prime example where you can give the BOT direct input before we set
this idea in stone (so to speak!)
Comments (polite) and constructive suggestions welcome!
Regards,
Monty Lehmann
