I haven't read the by-laws that the AKA follows, but I have a question. In
my local club, when ideas are brought up that would be considered changes to
the way the club operates, or a purchase that would cost more than $150 or
$200 (can't remember exact amount off hand), it is decided by a vote of the
general membership. Is this the way the AKA runs, or does the BOT just
decide things for us? If someone moves that the AKA should sponsor a
collecting trip or that we put the listings on an on-line bulletin board,
and that motion is seconded, then it is just a matter of majority rules,
right? Everybody can have their own thoughts on these matters, but doesn't
it come down to a vote by general membership? Or do the BOT vote for us?
If we had to wait for a membership approval on things we AKA members would
get nothing.
We members are to kept like mushrooms fed Bull droppings, and kept in the
dark as much as possible, that is why there is no formal monthly reports on
the actions of the BOT.
