Re: Effects of light on fry color development

Good question, Tony,

For shop lights that want 4' 40W T12 lamps, I like the GE "Sunsine" (aka Chroma 50) lamps, combined with a "daylight" to make the overall effect a little bluer. Note that both produce less lumens/Watt than "Cool whites." That is because CWs match the human eye-response very well indeed, but plants want more blue and red than we see.

One Cool White and a couple of P&A tubes worked pretty well, as I recall.

There is lots on lighting in the Krib <www.thekrib.co> so suggest you browse a bit, there.

Question to Wright (and others):

What fluorescent tube would you recommend for "*good* artificial illumination" ??
In my small fish room I use shop lights with (for no rhyme or reason) an assortment of warm white, cool white and Gro Lux tubes. The room gets no natural sunlight - unfortunately none.
I would appreciate some advise on this.
