over the moon

Over the moon now. Have 12 young fish from our wild import of Fp.deltaensis
last spring. The male was very very bad on import & didn't stand any chance
of pulling through. He did though & pushed out a few eggs.
Those youngsters are up to 1" & represent at least 3 pairs.
These males are very colourful though. I am hoping they will grow enough to
produce eggs to supply the AKA before the weather closes in over here.

This is conservation at the pointed end. The AKA also have this area of
interest.
My contacts in the AKA keep me informed of what is being imported.
Much has been put in the group regarding how to import new species or how we
should finance it.
For our part we have a good contact who collects new fish & gets them to the
UK.
All these imports are special to the BKA & are put into conservation project
tanks.
How to finance this work!
Our approach to this is to gain the respect of a wholesaler who imports from
the right areas. We are extremely lucky as Alan Green works in this
environment & feeds intel & fish to us.
You do not need $100,000 to get results. Money means nothing. How many
collecting trips have been set up with a dollar return in mind?
Financing collecting trips is crazy. I qualify this statement by quantifying
the amount of imports we have had so far & how many we still have.
Conservation is important, not collecting or financing new collection trips.
Yes, their should be trips in certain areas but these areas are perhaps very
dangerous & we should ask ourselves if we should send enthusiastic people to
these areas.
We should not finance 'A trip to Africa' without some need to do so.
I think Huber should be consulted first on where are the important areas to
collect & these criteria only should be used for AKA finance.
The need to collect in certain areas should set the precident.
