Hi All
If it is the adventure that is interesting, the danger and the thrill of the chase let me recommend the $300.00 Safari Special. This has been inspired by a posting on the NAFA list the same afternoon that I received 50 plus listings related to aka-sponsored collection trips. BTW, I realize that Heterandria formosa are not real killiefish, but there are native killiefish from Florida to Maine to The Olympic Peninsula to the Arizona desert. The $300.00 Safari Special is good regardless of species collected.
The $300.00 includes; boots, dip net, bucket, 10 gal. Wal Mart foam cooler, and the motel room. A six pack and ham sandwiches are extra.
Both the snakes and the mosquitoes are real and if you don't have the right documents the local uniformed officers will want to talk to you. Be sure to inspect your catch before heading home, as this is a limited offering and it may not be repeated.
From the NANFA list on 7/31/03:
On a trip a few weeks ago to the Charleston, SC area I collected some least
killifish (Heterandria formosa) from a ditch near my motel. In brought back
10 or 15 to Kingsport and put them in a heavily planted 10 gal tank. I was
hoping to get a colony going, problem is that seems I only brought back
females! I wonder what the chances are that some of these will drop some
young? I have had them for more than a month and no babies yet.
