Hi David,
<< Bringing up another touchy subject, how's that cd program coming along?
Sure
would be nice to have access to the old information. Now that would truly
be a worthwhile service to the membership. Something worth paying for. More
availablility of information on the old fish would certainly generate
interest in keeping the >>
I spoke to Barry about that recently and he has just been too busy to
get that tedious job done. I agree, let the AKA use some of this $100,000 to
hire someone -- or activate the computer committee -- to complete the CD of all
old publications. I know Tony T. was working on the old INDEX, another jewel of
a publication and he could probably use help too. There is so much wonderful
information in the old publications and it is ashame it is unavailable to the
vast majority of the membership. People would just flip over what is in it.
Peter Tirbak's old "Mop Shop" column is priceless. The old fishroom tour
articles are great. JAKA when it was purely a scientific publication and published
separately was amazing. Rosario has a great old article on the history of South
American Annual Spawning Mediums. There is tons of original stuff by Scheel
and Roloff. There are many long translated articles by Walter Foersch -- on
furzeri, oeseri, walkeri. There is alot of translated material. People just have
no idea the enormous wealth of unbelievably good material we are sitting on,
plus the old publications give a good idea of what the AKA used to be like.
Mouths will drool over the old multi-page F&EL - wait until you see all the
species.
Bobby
