Hi
I totally agree that the F&EL should go online and be (to the extent
possible) a REAL TIME listing. I think this would increase the volume of
listings to a great degree....especially newer and rarer species By newer
and rarer species, I don't necessarily mean new and rare to the 20+ year
killie fanatic. I mean new and rare to the average hobbiest in hiis area.
.The idea that I could (myself) list a pair of fish, get a reply from an
interested hobbiest, make a deal, and then delete the listing in the matter
of a few days is a great incentive to use the fish and egg listing. In its
present form, it is nearly useless to me. Having a more extensive and
constant supply of new and rarer species available to the killie hobbiest
will generate new and keep interest high. The new and rare species class
at the convention brought in almost half of all the money at the auction. On
the rare occasion that a ratre or new species is offered on Aquabid, lively
bidding usually follows. I'm of the strong opinion that to keep interest in
killies at a high level, there
must be a better forumn to obtain and distribute killies around the country.
Killies have an advantage, since they generally are easier to ship, are
hardier in shipping , and cost considerably less to ship than most species
of fish. And yet, the AKA does not take advantage of this by having such an
out of date fish and egg listing.. I think the complete overhaul of the
current F&EL should be a very high priority.
