Re: Suitable Killies for a pond

If you have medium to hard water, why not consider either Lebias (Aphanius)
or Cyprinodons? These should do well year round where you live. They also
thrive in a pond. Lebias (Aphanius) mento or apodus are highly recommended.
There are several species of pupfish that you can probably obtain that are a
delight also. Some of these are part of the Killifish conservation effort
and a pond would be very welcome. Cyprinodon rubrofluviatilis (Red River
Pupfish), Cyprinodon alvarezi, and some others would be good choices. By
the way, stick to one killifish, and, if possible, keep only that species in
the pond.
