A while ago my 12 gallon with Danios in it became over-run with, I'm not sure as to the name, but I would call it a type of hair-algae. Resembles Java Moss from far away, but denser and far finer strands.
Anyways, I took it all out and threw it into an old 10 gallon with the lights on about 15 hours a day, just to see what would happen to it (fill the tank with algae, algae die off and java moss return (which the algae had over-run), etc.). A month later the plants are all a little bigger, and there are about 15 baby danios swimming aorund the tank, still very small, but noticably danios. I was amazed when I found them last night.
Does anyone think that this algae could be used as a breeding medium for my Gardneris or Bluefin Killifish? Or perhaps rainbowfish? I am mostly worried about the fish becomming entrapped in the algae as it is so dense, but I don't know.
Thanks
Chris
