Bill, you would be astonished at how kuhli and horseface loaches can eat a
snail. For the hard water, try the old weather loach. They can live in
about
anything. In fact, they are abit more powerful. You will be able to hear
them crunching when the lights are out. The weather loaches can handle
moving
tank to tank better than most. The other good thing is that wx-loaches are
not
as expensive as the others I mentioned. Oh yea, another good thing is that
they like cooler conditions, but can take warm water as well. Give it a
shot if
you can obtain them easily. I worked at a wholesaler, here in columbus,
years
ago, where they made it out into a retention pond by the building. As we
were having a smoke break, we noticed several swimming around under the
thin
layer of ice. They got kinda big out there. I was amazed at how well they
did,
outside in december of 86.
