Re: Mind over Matter - and - Pond snails

Hi All, just thought I would add to the discussion about snails. I used to
keep a clown loach around to clear the deck. He got kind of big, so I gave
him away. I also used a skunk loach which did real well on the snails. Some of
the best loaches that I have used, moving them tank-to-tank, were kuhli
loaches and horseface loaches. It is worth a try before you break a good tank down.
All, however, will eat eggs and fry. So, be careful. About the pond snails,
there are two types. One is of the genus, lymnaea, and the other, physa.
Lymnaea is the pond snail and physa is the tadpole snail. One of these actually
eats hydra, but I cant remember which. Physa definitely reproduce best when the
aquarium conditions are optimum. If someone can elaborate on these , I would
appreciate it because one of these types does'nt eat eggs. It may the variety
that eats hydra.
