The shirimp is probably: Neocaridina denticulata sinensis or closely
related.  It reproduces nicely in conditions where their larvae can hide
from predation.  Apparently even thier parents are potential predators.  I
have seen these shrimp eat artemia napui and Moina (at least they are
grabbing at things near the congragations of said live foods).  Small fry
may be fair game....
