Thanks Peter,
Who is a sufficient authority on these "groupings" since they aren't an
ICZN nomenclature category? I think most of us probably use Radda and
Purzl or Baensch for such information. There must be a better way!
Wolfgang Eberl, who, I believe, edited V3 of Baesch killies lumps all
three species as closely related and says some authors contend *punctatum*
is just a northerly sub-species of *wildekampi*. I understand (third-hand)
that he, too, does not think they are members of the elegans group, unlike
Radda and Purzl. [He makes no mention of *passaroi*. *A. passaroi* Huber
'94 is possibly too new for either of those reference sources.]

Punctatum, wildekampi and aureum are not elegans group fish. Punctatum and
wildekampi are grouped together and aureum and passaroi are grouped together
with an intermediate form that I collected on two of my trips to Gabon. They
are not difficult species to breed, but not as easy as many others.
Punctatum has not been collected and distributed very extensively.
