Wright,
For me, an elegans group fish is slender-bodied, and has extended fins.
In the 1998 article Eberl adds that they have red pigmentation in their
flanks to his reasons for wondering about this (in relation to aureum).
I'm just a hobbyist speculating, and my direct experience of elegans
fish is limited to keeping lamberti and cognatum, and seeing a few
others at other killiekeepers houses or in shows.
I had wildekampi, and they were a heavy-bodied, short-finned fish, built
more like an ogoense than the elegans I was familiar with.
Ah well, waiting for Peter Tirbak...
Gary
