I built a circulating system using basically the same design for my brackish set up.I had 11 20 gallon and 12 5 gallon tanks on it and it worked well for six weeks.It worked long enough to lull me into thinking it was fool proof then over the next month I had 7 failures. Never could figure out why so I ripped it out and am switching it over to stand pipes which never fail unless the screen gets plugged.
I have discovered 25 year old tanks don't drill very well!
On the other hand I'm using the same design for my water changer in my "other" fish room and never have had a failure in the 9 months that's been running.
