RE: food for daphnia

I have found that sweet potatoe baby food works great. I rotate cultures to
try and avoid die-offs. My setups are ten gallon aquariums with air stones
running a trickle of bubbles.(Enough to break the surface scum.) I mix the
baby food with water and squirt into the aquarium. Don't try to ad just the
baby food - it is very thick and sinks to the bottom. Add more food about
every other day or as the water clears. It gives the "bugs" a bright orange
color.
An additional fish attractant.

Subject: food for daphnia

I was wondering if anyone had a home recipe they would like to share in
feeding daphnia cultures. I'm
currently using powderized spirulina algae flakes and
yeast to grow out a culture before tapping it for a food source. Are there
better feeders to be used that are more nutritious? Any and all ideas would
be welcomed.
