Q: Anyone use python water changer for killie-tanks ?
I''ve always kinda assumed the "slurp factor" was too powerful for the small tanks/small fish setups common to killies .... but last night, after I spent three hours in the fish room dealing with new fish, and never got around to doing any of the routine water changes on the other tanks that I'd been planning on doing .. I thought gee, maybe the old bucket & siphon ought to be retired.
Anybody have experiences with the python to share ? Can you control the velocity ? When you move one of these things from tank to tank, do you get a bit of a "back-flush" effect that primes the siphon on tank 2 by pumping in some of the waste water (still in the hose) from tank 1 ?
(BTW, I have well-water that comes through a resin-bed whole-house water filtering system, so the water is chlorine/chloramine-free, and pretty much ready-to-use, although a bit cool. I've been using a sprayer head to aerate it a bit on the way in. Water-pressure is medium-low. )
TIA !
