Re: OT Betta stuff

When raising my B. splendens, the males will start fighting in the grow-out
tank. I keep my fish together longer than many other splendens breeders
without problems, but eventually they do become aggressive. Especially when
their fins start growing and they become easily distinguishable. It is not
learned behavior. Isolation will certainly make it worse, but they are
naturally territorial and aggressive. Just my experience.

So you are saying that Bettas and Paradise fish are not born aggressive and
territorial? I suppose it makes sense. You spend weeks or even months in a
little tank that you learn over time is all your own, suddenly another fish
is thrown into the mix, into your tank. I'd be a little upset if I lived in
a small apartment for a year or 2 and then some guy that I didn't know at
all just decided to move in and get in my way all the time :)
