I am no expert, but did much hybridization work during the 70's,
different genera will breed and produce offspring. australe will breed
with gardneri, and on and on.............
Whether they are sterile is not the issue, what are you going to do with
them? how can you tell hybrid fish from other fish..................
? would you know a hybrid if you saw it ? most of the answers are NO.

I worked with 35 populations from the bivittatum species group and
can assure you that you can not distinguish hybrids visually, Scheel did so
much work on hybridization and showed many gardneri crosses..... I hope
enough to convince people to maintain species specific tanks for collecting
eggs.

Aplocheilicthys and Fundulopanchax will probably not produce
fry.......... and would be save for a community tanks, but Oh my what
other mixes can produce.
