melafix

I just set up three 10-gal tanks with aeration. Each tank was filled with tap 
water and Melafix was added a day later. A week later I added Najas, java 
moss, peat moss, and a pair of killies. Two days later all the Najas had 
decomposed in all three tanks. (Fish were fine.) Is Melafix known to affect 
plants? This is a new one on me. - Bob Goldstein
