Education is the best answer. I firmly believe in keeping strains pure but I also know, from experience, that sometime a personal situation doesn't permit it. In that case, educate the person that they shouldn't sell or give away any offspring.
In my case, I had to mix Glossolepis multisquamatus "Paro" with Melanotaenia praecox, both rainbowfish, not killies, and I'm sure they will interbreed. They only other choice I had was to give up one of the two species. I just had to cut down from 20 tanks to 2, that was difficult to say the least. What will I do with fry? Well, I did put 2 angels in the tank also so I really don't think I'll have that problem... :-)
Educate, but cut them some slack.
