RE Scriptaphy. cauveti strains
Hi everyone,
I do not yet have cauveti Kindia. It is on my list to get, since I'm
handling cauveti for KCC. My tank are pretty full raising Scriptaphy
bertholdi at the minute.
I do have the other three strains of cauveti I know about - ETZ, Siramosouya
and the GRCH strain.
I rarely have more than one or two males in full color in the same tank - I
do see color variation in my three strains - but usually that goes away once
the paler male is established in his own tank with a harem.
There is a great color difference among my three strains - the Sirs are a
bit more pastel, the GRCH have sharper colors.
I do have a comment about this statement:
"I just checked Langton's _Collections..._, 3rd Ed. and he lists the 1993
collection as GRCH 93/238 Siromousaya, but states that other *A. (sic)
cauveti* were imported in the earlier '90s as *A. sp.* Kindia."
Siramosouya are a different collection from GRCH. I am not sure that this
is correct in Langton's collection listing, if that is what it says. The
93/238 are (forgive my spelling, I am at work and do not have the listing
here): Birrange Atlantique, not Sir's.
"PS. Langton lists one other collection, in '97 as GM 97/5 Kamara Bounyi,
also in Guinea."
I have not heard anything about this collection - nor seen the fish. ETZ
were a commercial import, they were only identified for sure as cauveti a
couple of years ago.
I have plenty of the GRCH and Sirs to send to people, but only a few ETZ
(they do not lay very many fertile eggs).
