just my thoughts

Hi,

I agree with Barry's POV. An online F&E Listing would be good but an
auction is bad. One of great things about the AKA has always been the
availability of great killies at fair prices. I have seen local club auctions
chase interested people away when the wealthier members constantly outbid all
others or when members purposely drove up prices "for the good of the club."
Let Wall Street keep a completely capitalistic worldview and let the AKA
maintain a more idealistic democratic one.
I would like to see the BNL disappear with all its current information
re-introduced as "Killie Notes" into JAKA so that JAKA once again becomes a
club magazine and not only a collection of articles. I believe this would
save money and allow the volunteers to focus their available time and energy
onto producing a single fine product. The BNL "staff" would become part of
JAKA's "staff" and the F&EL chairman would become part of Barry's webpage
"staff." I think the consolidation would improve both.
As I have said, my only concern is leaving anyone out. That is why I
believe our next annual questionaire should be focused solely on the question
of the F&EL going on line and the BNL rejoining JAKA as "Killie Notes." I
believe the membership should be told that real and immediate decisions will
be made based on the information gathered from the questionaire so everyone
concerned should go out of their way to answer the questionaire. I would hate
to think we are holding off on an on line, members only, F&EL because we fear
members lack internet access when, in fact, 100% have it. I certainly don't
know what is the real situation.
I believe an On Line, AKA members ONLY!!!!!!!!!!, constantly updated,
F&EL would reinvent and reinvigerate the F&EL for the 21st Century. I believe
more species would become available to the entire membership and that it
might even begin to serve as a means of connecting the local clubs with one
another.
