Re: F&EListing is working

Hi Doug, it can be argued that everything in print can/should be on-line,
even Newsweek, The Washington Post, etc. The F&EL is part of our monthly
newsletter. " A monthly publication of official AKA business distributed to
members only" as stated at the top of the inside cover. In addition to that,
it says "Fish & Eggs-Committee Reports-Announcements". So, it has a function
that is also traditional. Even if it becomes an on-line product, it will
still be printed. There are a whole lot of other uses for it besides fish and
eggs. I suppose that some folks only want the F&EL, but we can use it as a
formal tool to voice opinions, propose agendas, members letters, solicit
participation, or question authority in a democratic forum, as stated inside
the front cover. Yes, it costs First Class Postage X about 1000 people 12
times each year, but it is quite affordable and worthwhile. In addition to
having the F&EL on-line and real-time, maybe we should think about added
value. Maybe it's time to enhance it. I dont know about everyone else, but I
dont print everything I see on the computer. I would have a large stack of
computer paper that would find its way into the fire place. In a way, the BNL
probably is saving trees by being small and compact-easy to store with my
JAKA stack, each year, as evidence of what the club has done on the record. I
know that most if not all affiliate clubs give the option of sending their
monthly newsletters by snail mail or electronically. Maybe the AKA can do the
same thing. I would still opt for the hard copy being sent to my box though.
So, I agree, the BNL/F&EL is working for me. Mark Delraso
