As a prime mover in the Beginner's Committee, I can't imagine better help.

I looked at the archives a bit, yesterday, and was stunned by the 
magnitude of questions that have been dealt with, there. It will be a 
non-trivial task to distill that down to a reasonable-sized FAQ.
