I incubated Epiplatys annulatus eggs that came from very (very) soft
water in my San Diego water which runs about 450 ppm hardness, and
the hatch rate was very high. I don't incubate eggs in straight San
Diego water any more --I'm not sure exactly why, except that I'm not
supposed to-- but from my own experience, limited as it may be, some
if not most of the elberti eggs that are left behind in your 300 ppm
water will hatch.
