Reptile Combo Light

I've been given a 36 inch wide all glass tank (30 gal. ??). The tank has an 
all glass cover but no light. In browsing the Dr's Foster & Smith web site I 
found a light intended for reptiles called a combo light. It has a 
fluorescent and also several screw sockets rated at 150 watts each. I was 
wondering if any one has used these lights for planted tanks and if they 
felt it useful. I assume that I could use any type of screw type bulb (ie. 
energy saver fluorescents, halogen or incandescent). Just interested in any 
comments list members might have.
