Michiko,
Is your tank in a window or facing a window
with strong sunlight? Green algae generally
denotes too much light . I tried answering
your message last night but will repeat: it is
helpful to know what you are doing to this
tank: feeding, both fish and plants, water
parameters, substrate (if you've disturbed
the substrate by transplanting and have
laterite that clouded the water column, algae
will occur). I was heavy-handed in feeding
iron to my plants and got an algal bloom 2
days after. I like planted tanks, too, and highly recommend Aquatic Plants
Digest.
Our Wright Huntley and Kwek Leong Loh
have posted there (I lurk) and can go into greater detail about causes.
Water changes,
reducing light, reducing feeding, and more plants, as said before, will help
your problem. If it's a newly set-up tank, use fast
growers like najas, hornwort, hygro. Be
thankful it's not red algae or Blue-Green Algae (BGA).
Best of luck,
Bill
