I don't intend to get into a long debate about this, but I think you are 
saying that it is not illegal to link from one site, directly to an image 
on another site. I did not state that it was. I did state that removing 
images, that is saving them to disk and present them as your own, is 
illegal. If it is not, it makes a mockery of the law. Of course, the law 
often makes a mockery of itself. What I did state was that it is my policy 
to ask that people do not link to images, whereas they may link to pages 
bearing an AKA header. Having that as a policy does not indicate legality 
or illegality. It is simply what I ask ethical people to do.

What we do agree on is what ethics and morality dictate.

By the way, my main objection to Wright's post was its implication that 
copyright is an outmoded legal issue, something that does not fit today's 
connected world and something that "young people" don't believe in.

Finally, I should end with the disclaimer that I am not a lawyer. Thank God!
