Re: A. Mimbon & A. Rectogoense
George, I can only share experience with mimbon Edoum. The egg production was
never high, but I had them pretty cool between 18-20C. The set up consisted
of a 10 gal tank, sponge(Tetra Billi)filter, pH 6.0-6.5, barely enough light
to keep Anubias nana growing, a very fine layer of peat( 1/16-1/32 of an inch
deep), a thick sunken mop and a floating mop as well. The KH was around 2 or
3. They really glowed in the dark when they were happy. You can tell when
there are probably eggs to collect when the male's snout becomes chromium
yellow, if your familiar with oil paint. The male that I had was pretty rough
on the female. Thats why I used the large sunken mop in addition to the
floater. There was no preference as to location of the eggs. In fact, you
will probably end up scooping fry. As to diet, I fed newly hatched artemia
with trace elements added, white worms, fruit flies, and OSI flake. When I
fed the flies, the male's snout turned that yellow color shortly afterwards.
That was a long time ago when I had that fish. As to rectogoense, I would
contact Dave Koran or Gary Darr. I know that they have had good results with
that fish. I remember Koran picking eggs out of java moss, if that helps.
