Oasis killies?

Hello everyone (and particularly those of you who have collected)-

I'm currently doing some research on the Saharan oases (esp. Algeria / 
Niger) and at times come across descriptions of wildlife in oases.  I've 
been surprised at the number of references to _Clarias_ sp. and _Barbus_, 
but nothing else (other than an amusing reference to "small gray fish that 
taste bad").  So... how far south do Aphanius (Lebias?) species venture? I 
know about the Ethiopia populations, but are there any oasis populations? 
And what's the northernmost Aplocheiloid fish (I'm assuming Ep. 
bifasciatus in the Nile)? Procatopodin?
