Eric, I have had several Hanna Instruments tds meters, over the years. I'm 
currently using a TDS-1 that was about $15 when they had their last sale 
on them (US-only, as I recall). 0-999 ppm, it is very misleading for water 
over the 999 level, as the little over-range symbol is so tiny my old eyes 
can't see it. Once past 999, it may display any old random number, it seems.

They are in the Common Market, BTW. My unit was actually made in Portugal.

I'd like a better one, but my Scottish frugality will not let me discard a 
working unit. So far, I have neither crushed nor drowned this one. :-)
