planted killi tanks
In reviewing the past few months of the aquatic plant digest and the killi
list I was unable to find a discussion on appropriate species to keep in an
established 40 gallon well planted tank (a 40 breeder, 36 inches long, 18
high). I have bred lots of 'chiclids' and livebearers and anabantids, but
am looking for a new family of fish to keep (obviously a lot of cichlids
arent good candidates for the planted aquaria).
I'd like a relatively attractive fish, one that will adapt readily to
pH >7, and ideally one where the eggs conceivably could hatch in the
densely planted aquaria.
I have looked at th AKA pages and killi.net and have an idea of how to
proceed initially, once I figure out what to keep. I am in the high desert
of CA, so the notional idea of pupfish from death valley is intriguing but
impractical. almost as impractical as keeping killies in my 250 gallon ;)
thanks
