RE: New AKA web site (paypal)
We use Paypal just about every day...inbound and out. We have done well in
excess of a 1000 transactions. We have had one event that was maddening but
that was tied up with a shipping document and completely security related.
The firm was started by .comers who didn't have banking experience.
Definitely born in the wild wild west of the .com era. When they started the
credit card issuing they came under the microscope. Not all "investigations"
are bad...it is the term used commonly in government for looking at just
about anything and the public usually takes it the wrong way (similar to the
conflict of interest discussions which I have had to step away from several
times).
Paypal (and similar services) have come a long way in a very short period of
time.
Using any of the online shopping systems or money transfer systems is no
less secure than the waiter taking your credit card for dinner, vanishing
into the back room, swiping the card on machine hooked to the Internet or
telephone line and handing the card back with a smile.
When I was reading the thread I was thinking to myself, "Wow, that might
make me join the AKA again." Then I read a little further and noticed
someone saying that they would quit if Paypal was used. I chuckled. Don't
use Paypal to attract folks like me. Keep the members you have first.
Just some thoughts,
Jim
