Re: Cut your own

Gary,
Yours and Bill Shenefelt's tips on cutting glass will be invaluable the
next time I build some tanks. I got a Lowes' glass cutter (substandard to
what you described) and went thru 3 free windows a friend gave me when
they were remodeling their house. Also got 2 nasty cuts when I lost POM
(presence of mind)--good gloves are a great idea *only* if you remember to
wear them. Still managed to put together 2 tanks 14X12X11 inches tall
from the windows I had left. They're not pretty, not something I would
show first to a fellow killinut, but so far haven't leaked. The 2 side
panels
have to be absolutely square, as they fit inside the front and back pieces,
and they were the ones that were giving me trouble. Bill's advice about
the "singing" sound vs "crackling" will come into play, too. Remember
hearing the crackling sound and getting jagged edges as a result.
Thanks to you both, for the great advice!
Bill
