AW: Blue Gularis gestation time
Hi,
In order to separate the fry from the peat, I use 3 different containers: 1)
the hatching container which is low; 2) a bigger container in which the
hatching container fits; and 3) the tank in which I put the fry. It goes
this way:
Once the fry are hatched, I put the hatching container into the seccond
container. The water level needs to be just above the rim of the hatching
container (some 2 mm), so that the fry can swimm out into the bigger
container. You might have to put a small stone or 2 in the hatching
container so that it sinks.
Then I let the fry calm down. They soon start exploring and when I see that
many are out of the hatching container into the bigger container, I remove
the hatching container and pour the water of the bigger container into the
tank.
There will be some fry remaining in the hatching container, so I repeat this
operation until there is none left. You can leave the peat another 24 hours
to see if other fry hatch and dry it up again and wet it again one week
later. There might be some more fry hatching.
