RE: KillieTalk Digest V4 #635

Gee, I just checked my Innes volume. It's dated 1966. :-(

I know I had a copy when I was a teenager back in the '40s.
It was considered THE fish book for enthusiasts back in
those days (not much else available for laypersons, as I
recall). Don't know what happened to it over the years,
so I bought another a decade or so ago. It's in perfect
condition, with the following pencilled on the flyleaf:
This book $17.95. The $17.95 is crossed out, replaced
with $7.97...and on top of all is a big block letter stamp
                       DISCARD

My "Enclyclopedia of Tropical Fishes" by Herbert R. Axelrod
and Willianm Vorderwinkler is from 1957. :-)

Your observation as valid today as it was then ....only some of the
names have been changed to confuse us. It looks like a book, it feels
like a book, it reads like a book and most of Mr. Innes' comments on
"The Fish Hobby" are as valid today as they were then. You are even
provided with phonetic pronunciation of the latin names for the fish
shown. I cannot remember any new publication which provides this
service.
