Haven't seen it... but then again I
tuned out of the 'food shrimp' thread a
while back.

Bottom line: inbreeding (brother 2
sister) = bad.

Small breeding number inbreeding is the
fastest way to fix alleles in a
population. This can cause the strain
to deterioate or in the case of
Scheel's et al breeding efforts:
produce viable long lasting strains
through selective breeding.

If you are willing to cull mercilessly
you can churn out a good strain but the
odds of this are slim.

As far as possible breed fish in groups
or with multiple prs. Allow for random
mating to take place as far as possible
or select only the fittest fish.

By 'fittest' I imply good shape, color,
productivity and health.

With nothos and SAAs matters can get a
bit tricky as generally only one male
takes complete control of the peat bowl
but he generally spawns with multiple
females securing his strong alleles and
the more varied alleles of the females.

Questions?
