hard water stains on glass canopies

Slightly off-topic but relevant to killie-keepers....

Does anyone know how to get rid of water marks on
glass canopies? It appears as transluscent blotches
on the glass, and are smooth to touch, indicating that
it's probably penetrated into the glass. I've tried scrubbing
with soap, vinegar, and lime-away (Jungle product).
Nothing works.

Any suggestions?
