colour project

Just wondering if you could please give me some breeding
advice. It's not in relation to Killies but when it comes to selective
breeding you guys are the experts. I'm from Australia and I don't know if
you are aware or not but many American cichlids (which is my passion) have
been on an import ban list for about 25 yrs. Because of no fresh blood
coming in for so long, inbreeding has had a serious affect on colour. Fins
and body colour that once were beautiful and bright have almost dissapeared.
However i have managed to locate a magnificent male Dovii that must be still
carrying decent genes. The only problem is I only have a poor coloured
female to put him with.
They have spawned and even though the young have improved in colour to their
mother they are still nothing like their magnificent father. So I was
wondering if you could please advise me where to go from here to create fish
like my male with my colourless female. Also I'm quite sure both fish are
unrelated or very distant. The male came from Melbourne and the female from
Brisbane which is about 1200 miles away. If you would be so kind as to email
me at jayndeb86 at hotmail_com with some advice I would be super
grateful.
Yours truly Jason.
PS remember I also have their young we can work with as well.
