Re: Inducing breeding...again?

Hi guys, Al's idea is the way to go with previously live food. At the
Columbus Zoo Aquarium, we used to grate frozen scallops with the fine side of
a cheese grater. In addition to the scallops, spinach was also grated from
frozen form onto a cutting board. These foods were the trick for some of the
so-called dificult marine fish-angels and butterflies that wont eat aquarium
store food. I am sure that the grated scallops would work for killies in
small quantities. We had Cyprinodon macularius that were fed this diet,
including the spinach. The Columbus Zoo had them going for quite awhile. I
dont know if they are working with them anymore, but the staple for alot of
fish on display was the grated scallops, shrimp, and spinach. The spinach, I
suspect, was the root of the sucsess with the cichlid collection as well. And
then ofcoarse, those food work for me too. Mark D
