Re: Hey, I'm back...best temperature
Hi, Edd in Denver here.
Chris you wrote: "everything else I read says to keep them below 70, but
one website, one that I trust a lot, the same one I got the info on the
Dayi from, says 70 I think. But so far they seem fine at 72".
Killie literature is filled with more opinions than facts. Ask 10 people
the best temperature for a fish, you may get 10 different answers. Your
best bet would be to take the average of these, start there and then vary
it a degree or two each week until they showm the best color and are
producing the most eggs. You seem to observe your fish very carefully, my
compliments on that. Use your own judgement to find the optimum temperature
, with other peoples suggestions used as a starting point.
My huberi used to breed like rabbits at 62 degrees. A close friend 40 miles
away had best results at 76. Fish have individual preferences too. My wife
likes the house at 74, I like 70. 4 degrees does make more difference when
your cold blooded, but still, a 2 degree difference is not that significant
most of the time.
